I PRAY FOR LOVE EVERYDAY

Date

Installation: bedframe, nightstand, imprinted wallpaper, video on screen sewn in red pillowcase, artificial flowers, scent of jawelwater
Description

As part of the Maestà Art Residency, Anouk Koch was given a bedroom in an abandoned house in Vitulazio, in southern Italy. This work was conceived by Koch's observation of the importance of religion in the everyday life of the people living there. The phrase "I pray for love everyday" is plastered on the walls. The bed stands in the middle of the room, next to it a nightstand adorned with white artificial flowers. Only one person sleeps in this room. On the bed lies a red pillow, with a sewn-in screen on which a video recording can be seen. Thumb-twiddling hands refer to an eternal waiting. The room smells of Javel water. The ticking of a clock can be heard.

The work exists as an installation as well as a print on Aludibond (150 x 100 cm)
